Answer from Dr. Georg Noever:
Breast implants no longer need to be replaced automatically after ten years. Implants from the so-called first or second generation (1960s and 1970s) still had to be replaced after at least ten years. The implant shells were too soft and the silicone was too thin, which led to a high risk of leakage.
We work exclusively with implants of the latest generation. They are filled with cohesive silicone gel and therefore cannot leak. They retain their shape, are stable and have no expiration date. Ideally, they last a lifetime.
However, aftercare cannot be ruled out. The reason for an eventual replacement is not the durability of the implant, but changes to your own body such as pregnancy or weight gain or loss and the ageing process in general, which leads to sagging tissue and skin. Capsular fibrosis can also not be completely ruled out. This is an inflammatory foreign body reaction that requires an implant replacement.
