Aftercare for breast surgery

Immediately after the operation, you will be fitted with a sports bra to immobilize the breast. This must be worn consistently for 6 weeks. If a drain was inserted, it will be removed on the same day, rarely the next day. The first dressing check takes place in the Breast Atelier one day after the operation.

After breast surgery, swelling and numbness of the breast may occur, which usually disappear after a few weeks. It can take several months for the original sensation to return. After 6 – 8 weeks, the traces of the operation are largely healed.

The risks of a breast lift

Fundamentally, every operation carries certain risks (for example, drug intolerance, bruising, wound healing disorders, inflammation, scarring problems or sensitivity disorders). They also depend on the individual's health condition.

The scars after a breast lift are reddened for a few months, then become lighter and fade. The final result is achieved after one to one and a half years. In a few cases, excessive scarring may occur, which may then require further treatments.

The surgeon cannot guarantee the quality of the scars, as scarring is essentially congenital.

The ability to breastfeed should not be impaired after a breast lift, as the connections between the mammary gland and nipple, the milk ducts, remain intact. Nevertheless, an impairment of the ability to breastfeed cannot be ruled out as a result of such a procedure.
