Fundamentally, every surgery carries certain risks, such as drug intolerance, bruising, wound healing disorders, inflammation, scarring problems or sensitivity disorders. They also depend on the individual's state of health. Only rarely do severe circulatory disorders of the breast tissue or nipples occur, which are accompanied by tissue loss and can lead to permanent loss of sensation in the breast or nipples. As a result, pigmentation disorders of the areola and scars may also remain.
Scars always remain on the breast after a breast reduction. Initially, the scars are reddened for several months, but then gradually fade. The final result of the scarring is achieved in one to one and a half years after the procedure.
The surgeon cannot predict or guarantee how inconspicuous the scars will be because individual scarring varies greatly. In individual cases, excessive scarring may occur, which then requires additional treatment. Post-treatment of the scars with Micropore Tape is recommended for all patients. Scar corrections or corrections to the breast shape are rarely necessary.
The ability to breastfeed can be compromised by a breast reduction. With the surgical techniques used, however, we make sure to leave glandular tissue in connection with the nipple and the milk ducts so that, in principle, the ability to breastfeed is maintained.
