Dr. Fritz, what is the sentence you hear most often from your patients after a breast reduction?

I hear the following sentence again and again after a breast reduction - and each time it touches me anew: "I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders."

What physical and psychological complaints do patients typically bring to you?

Many of my patients come to me with long-standing complaints: neck pain, tension, pressure points from bra straps, sometimes even migraines. But what often bothers them the most is this constant feeling of carrying a physical burden around with them - day after day.

How do your patients describe their new attitude to life immediately after the operation?

A lot changes after the operation. Not just the shape of the body, but the whole attitude to life. Many describe it as if they can finally breathe freely again. Clothes fit differently, movements are easier and they stand up straighter - not only physically, but also internally.

Do you have a particularly impressive example of how a breast reduction has drastically improved a patient's quality of life?

One of my patients once told me that she had suffered from severe migraines since puberty. After her breast reduction, she came in for a follow-up a few weeks later - and said with a smile:

"I haven't had a single migraine attack since the operation. It's as if the pressure has disappeared." Moments like this show me how life-changing a breast reduction can be.

What is the most common comment you hear regarding the timing of the decision?

Almost everyone says the same phrase: "My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner."

How would you define the benefits of a breast reduction beyond the purely aesthetic aspect?

Many patients experience a significant improvement in their quality of life after a breast reduction. Complaints such as back pain, tension or headaches can improve significantly and everyday movements become easier again. A breast reduction is therefore much more than just an aesthetic procedure - it can be an important step towards feeling balanced in your own body again.
