One specific risk is the formation of capsular fibrosis. This is a natural foreign body reaction. If the tissue layer contracts, the implant is constricted, making the breast feel harder.
In severe cases, corrective surgery is then performed to remove the scar tissue. This procedure is usually covered by health insurance. This is often done in combination with an implant replacement. However, the risk of capsular fibrosis is only around 3%.</p
In addition, an implant may be displaced or twisted, resulting in deformation of the breast, which can lead to corrective surgery.
