While some women want a larger, fuller breast, others suffer from an oversized, sagging breast, which can cause chronic discomfort in the back and neck area, among other things.

The desire to exercise can disappear completely and the wearing of swimwear or tight-fitting clothing is avoided.

In these cases, a breast reduction can help to eliminate these complaints.

Procedure of the operation

On the day of the operation, you will arrive at the day clinic of the Haus zur Pyramide 1 1/2 hours before the breast reduction. The nursing staff and your doctors will prepare you for the procedure. The procedure takes about 2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia.

The excess skin, fat and glandular tissue is removed from the lower breast area, then the inside of the breast is reshaped and the skin over it is tightened. The areola is reduced in size and lifted to its new position.

The incision for breast reduction runs around the areola, vertically downwards and in most cases an incision is also necessary in the breast crease. Here you can find all the information about the T method and i method (also known as the Lejour method).

Two different incisions

The surgical techniques performed in the Breast Atelier differ primarily in terms of the incision technique:

The i-method according to Léjour is a scar-saving, vertical lift that is particularly recommended for medium-sized breasts that need to be reduced in size and tightened at the same time. By making a vertical incision downwards, excess skin below the nipple can be removed.

The T-method is particularly suitable for very large, very sagging breasts, as the vertical incision below the nipple is followed by a horizontal incision in the underbust fold to remove sufficient excess skin.

Further information on the incision techniques can be found here.

After the operation

You must remain in the day clinic for at least 2 hours for monitoring purposes, after which you may be picked up.

The first wound check will take place the next day. Any drains will then be removed and any risks identified. In the following weeks, you will wear a supportive sports bra to immobilize you. Proper scar care is just as important over the next few months
